Earp Cohn PC is pleased to announce that our partner Don Nogowski recently served as lead Redevelopment and Environmental Counsel for the Big Timber Junction Redevelopment Project, which has now advanced to the construction phase.
This project represents one of the most successful brownfield redevelopment projects in the State of New Jersey in recent years. Encompassed over 150 acres and three separate landfills, Don led the multi-year effort to obtain all NJDEP remediation and redevelopment approvals on behalf of our client.
Through Don’s efforts, the client was able to obtain all approvals to successfully remediate the site and to prepare the site for the current redevelopment efforts, which include a One Million square foot logistics center, a new 40- acre waterfront park and the construction of a new roadway between Creek Road and Route 42 in Camden County.
The project presented significant logistics challenges, as the site lies within two separate counties and two municipalities, and also includes a navigable estuary. Don led significant inter-governmental cooperation efforts among municipal, county and state officials to achieve the desired results.
The permitting and approval process included municipal redevelopment, land use and PILOT approvals, an inter-governmental shared services agreement, as well as NJDEP approvals concerning Green Acres, Tidelands, Waterfront Development, Brownfield Redevelopment and Solid Waste.
